Zelestra, a global renewable energy company, has announced the appointment of Luis Alvargonzález as Country Manager for Spain and Xavier Puig as Chief Financial Officer, effective from November 18.

In his new role as Country Manager for Spain, Luis will act as the company’s representative in the country, engaging with local stakeholders, government bodies, investors, business partners, and communities, identifying and exploring new business opportunities, strategic partnerships, and potential growth areas for the company.

Luis previously held the position of Chief Financial Officer at Zelestra, an experience he will leverage to strengthen the company’s presence in Spain.

On his appointment, Luis stated: “At Zelestra, we continually push ourselves, as well as our clients. I am thrilled to take on this new role and work with the organization as a whole to advance our strategic goals in Spain.”

Meanwhile, Xavier Puig, the new Chief Financial Officer of Zelestra, brings over 20 years of international experience in finance, leadership, and operations in large corporations.

Xavier has a solid track record of leading multicultural teams in sectors such as low-emission circular steel production, having served as Chief Financial Officer and Managing Director in Spain and the UK for CELSA Group.

In his most recent role as Chief Financial Officer for CELSA Group’s Southern Europe operations, Xavier oversaw a large group of companies with consolidated revenues of €3 billion and 4,500 employees.

He began his career at KPMG and holds a degree in Business Administration and Management from Universitat Pompeu Fabra, a Master’s in Tax Advisory and Management (AGT) from ESADE Business School, and an MBA from London Business School.

On his role as Chief Financial Officer, Xavier said: “Taking on the role of Chief Financial Officer at Zelestra is a great honor and an inspiring opportunity to advance the energy transition and, as we say at Zelestra, ‘make decarbonization a reality.’
