Spain is making progress in its transition to a more sustainable energy model. On November 21, the Official State Bulletin (BOE) published three key projects in the field of renewable energy, with a combined total of over 600 MW of installed capacity. The initiatives include a photovoltaic solar plant in Toledo, a hybridization project in Seville, and storage systems in Cuenca.

Toledo: Magerit FV3 Solar Plant

The Magerit FV3 project, promoted by HARBOUR SEVILLA MANCHUELA 2, S.L., stands out with an installed capacity of 268.95 MW. Located in the municipalities of Escalona, Maqueda, Quismondo, Santa Cruz del Retamar, Fuensalida, and Arcicóllar, the plant is subject to modifications, including an electrical substation and a high-voltage evacuation line.

The documentation is available for public consultation, allowing for the submission of objections in the next 30 working days.

Seville: Hybridization of PFV Helios and Romeral

In Carmona (Seville), Tarba Energía, S.L. proposes the hybridization of the “PFV Helios” solar plant with the Romeral generation complex. This project integrates 4.80 MW of installed capacity connected via an underground 6.3 kV evacuation line. In addition to the administrative authorizations, a declaration of public utility is requested to proceed with expropriations and easements.

Cuenca: BESS Storage Systems

In Cuenca, the BESS Olmedilla and BESS Romeral systems will contribute a combined installed capacity of 54.92 MW. These storage modules, promoted by Desarrollos Renovables FV Olmedilla, S.L. and FV Romeral, S.L., will integrate with existing solar parks, improving the use of infrastructure and enhancing energy flexibility.

The joint processing of both projects highlights the environmental and technical synergy of the installations, facilitating a more efficient evaluation and approval process.

Impact on the Energy Transition

With these projects, Spain is advancing towards its goal of achieving 100% renewable electricity by 2050, in line with the National Integrated Energy and Climate Plan (PNIEC). The integration of storage systems like BESS strengthens the country’s ability to manage a more flexible and resilient power grid.

Additionally, these initiatives emphasize the role of public participation in the development of energy infrastructure. Transparency and access to information are key to ensuring that projects meet the required environmental and social standards.
