BKW y Zelestra firman un PPA para promover la producción de energía renovable

BKW, a leading energy and infrastructure company based in Switzerland, has signed a ten-year power purchase agreement (PPA) with Zelestra, a global, multi-technological, customer-oriented renewable energy company.

Through this agreement, Zelestra partners with BKW to co-build a carbon-free future for Italy and its clients.

This agreement reflects Zelestra’s strong aspirations to build a large platform that offers solutions to customers in Italy.

The agreement will allow BKW Energie AG to acquire the energy generated by two solar plants located in Apulia and Sicily.

The Bellomo plant, located in Modica (Sicily), will have an installed capacity of 9.5 MWdc and will help avoid approximately 6,500 tons of CO2 emissions per year.

The Ginosa plant, located in Ginosa (Apulia), will have an installed capacity of 6.5 MWdc and will prevent around 4,500 tons of CO2 emissions annually.

Eliano Russo, Country Manager of Zelestra in Italy, highlighted the importance of this agreement for the company: “This partnership with BKW represents a key step in our strategy to consolidate our position as a leading player in the Italian renewable energy market.

We are committed to expanding our project portfolio in Italy to 1.5 GW by 2026. This agreement confirms our focus on creating sustainable, tailor-made solutions that support both Italy’s energy transition and BKW’s decarbonization journey.”

Stefan Sewckow, Head of Energy Markets at BKW, stated: “This 10-year PPA in Italy marks an important milestone in our company’s path toward achieving our strategic vision for sustainable growth.

By aligning ourselves with Italy’s ambitious renewable energy goals, we reaffirm our commitment to innovation, environmental responsibility, and creating value for our stakeholders. This partnership exemplifies our dedication to staying at the forefront of Europe’s clean energy transition.”

Zelestra currently has 31 projects in development in Italy, with a total capacity of 0.5 GW. The company plans to diversify its portfolio by incorporating multiple technologies, expanding its battery storage portfolio, and growing in key regions of Italy.
