December 16, 2024Romania’s first Contracts for Difference tender awarded 1,528 MW of renewable capacity, distributed between 1,096 MW of onshore wind energy and 432 MW of photovoltaic solar energy. The average prices were highly competitive, reaching €65/MWh for wind and €51/MWh for solar, in an event that marks a milestone in the country’s energy transition.

It recently published the pre-selected candidates for AO9, amounting to 2.7 GW, and announced AO10 for 9.2 GW. Rafael Menéndez Cuiñas states that there are 16,000 km², representing over 80 GW, identified for future developments from 2030 to 2040.
