AIKO Energy is an international company dedicated to manufacturing photovoltaic products that, one year ago, positioned itself in Europe with its innovative All Back Contact (ABC) solar modules. Now, it seeks to expand its presence and achieve a 30% market share in the coming years.

“In Spain and Portugal, we have approximately a 10% market share, considering that we just started this year, the reception has been very positive. In the coming years, we believe that back contact technology will be the market leader,” says Juan José Argüelles, General Manager DG South Europe.

“Our product doesn’t compete on price, but on quality and innovation,” highlights Argüelles, referring to Aiko Energy’s differentiating strategy in the market.

Since its entry into Europe at the end of 2023, Aiko Energy has experienced notable growth. According to the executive, “this rapid positioning reflects the positive reception of our technology and the commitment of our distributors and installers.”

Spain, with its extreme climate, high demand for efficiency, and focus on return on investment and resistance to high temperatures, has been an ideal market for Aiko Energy’s solar modules, which offer a superior thermal coefficient and minimal degradation compared to the competition.

The company operates in several European countries, adapting its strategies to the characteristics of each one.

“Our approach to the market was different, bringing added value and new technology. The market was eager to see some evolutionary development. We came to bring a product with a lot of technology and high quality,” says the company representative in an interview with Energía Estratégica España.

Innovative Technology and Solar Modules

ABC (All Back Contact) modules are an advanced technology in solar panel manufacturing characterized by having electrical contacts located on the back of the cells, eliminating the need for visible contacts on the front.

In this context, Aiko Energy aims to revolutionize solar module design. “We present an innovative, efficient, and high-quality product that meets the needs of the market,” explains Argüelles.

With its arrival in Europe, the company has launched its first-generation modules, characterized by a record in efficiency, better temperature coefficient, and lower degradation.

In the coming months, the company will begin introducing its second generation of modules, incorporating innovations such as Shading Optimization, which minimizes losses due to shading, and Micro Crack Resistance, which strengthens the panels against extreme conditions such as large hail. These advancements ensure greater durability and safety, reducing overheating risks and extending the product’s lifespan, according to the executive.

Additionally, by mid-2025, the company expects to launch the third generation of solar modules, whose optimized design will make the most of the solar cell surface, further increasing panel efficiency.

“The module design is different, and some cells will overlap with others, there won’t be any unused space in the module; everything will be useful space for generation, which will increase generation and efficiency,” details the AIKO Energy representative.

Photovoltaic Market Analysis

The photovoltaic sector in Europe is going through a phase of consolidation after years of growth driven by subsidies and aids. According to Argüelles, “the market remains promising, with clear trends toward energy independence and economic competitiveness.”

“I believe that the solar sector will continue to develop and grow. It will reach a state of maturity and consolidation where we will see that even without subsidies and aids, the photovoltaic sector will be crucial for the development of companies and their competitiveness,” says the executive, pointing out that in the residential sector, the decision is driven both by saving on the bill and by energy independence.

“Components and equipment have dropped significantly. Now the costs of photovoltaic installation no longer have the same economic impact as before. So it’s becoming easier,” he adds.

In Argüelles’ words, “the key element for many companies is to reduce operational costs and gain competitiveness through photovoltaic energy.”
