Zelestra, a global renewable energy, multi-technology, and customer-oriented company, has acquired a majority stake in East Energy GmbH, a company specializing in the development of innovative, multi-technology energy solutions based in Rostock, Germany, through its German business unit.

As part of the deal, Zelestra has acquired a 25% stake in CropEnergies, as well as additional shares in East Energy Verwaltungs GmbH, thus becoming the majority owner of East Energy.

The partnership with East Energy marks a key milestone for Zelestra’s German business unit and strategically complements its organic growth plans in the market. Zelestra is expanding its business to become a leading independent renewable energy producer (IPP) with multiple technologies in Germany, helping its clients achieve their decarbonization goals in Europe’s largest energy market.

East Energy has an extensive portfolio of over 2 GW of photovoltaic, battery storage, onshore wind, and Power-to-X (green hydrogen, eMethanol) projects, as well as an experienced team that will strengthen Zelestra’s capabilities in Germany. Through East Energy, Zelestra will develop, build, and operate these projects to supply carbon-free electricity and energy products to its customers.

Robert Hienz, CEO of Zelestra in Germany, said: “This acquisition is a major step forward for Zelestra in Germany. By combining our resources with East Energy’s innovative approach, we are well-positioned to accelerate the energy transition in Germany. We are committed to delivering advanced and sustainable energy solutions that meet the ambitions of our customers and the country’s renewable energy goals. We warmly welcome the East Energy team to the Zelestra family and are excited about the potential this collaboration will bring in the coming years.”

Dirk Petschick and Dirk Klänhammer, founders and Managing Directors of East Energy, commented: “We are excited to join forces with Zelestra, a company that shares our vision of a sustainable, multi-technology energy future. This partnership will allow us to take our innovations to the next level, benefiting both our customers and the broader energy environment.”

Dr. Georg von Graevenitz, CEO of CropEnergies, who is selling his minority stake in East Energy GmbH as part of the transaction, commented: “We are pleased to have found a new partner for East Energy in Zelestra, which will carry out the planned projects within the expected timelines. We will continue to work in partnership with the team in the future and look forward to further collaboration in the renewable energy sector.”

With this acquisition, Zelestra strengthens its commitment to the energy transition by developing carbon-free multi-technology solutions and positioning itself as a reliable and trustworthy partner thanks to its collaborative and customer-focused approach.
