FES Iberia 2025 has firmly established itself as a strategic meeting point for the energy sector in Madrid, bringing together global leaders to discuss energy transition, storage, regulation, and next-generation technologies. Within this context, Strategic Energy held an exclusive audiovisual interview with Luis Contreras, Managing Director of Yingli Solar, who detailed the company’s new solar module launch and its global expansion strategy.

“Our Plateau series module delivers a module efficiency above 24%, around 24.1%,” explained Contreras. “It features a peak power output of 750 watts and demonstrates improved thermal performance, reduced degradation, and superior bifaciality.”

According to the executive, this technological innovation offers measurable economic benefits: “It can deliver a reduction in VOS-related CAPEX of approximately 1.5%, and a system LCOE reduction of around 2.9%.”

Contreras stressed that the product provides clear value in an increasingly competitive landscape: “It’s a product that brings added value to the market and to customers, helping them improve their plant LCOE and remain competitive in this highly competitive market environment we operate in.”

Strategic Objectives and Global Market Outlook

Yingli Solar aims to balance international sales with those in China, where 70% of current production remains in the domestic market. “Our goal is to match overseas sales with what is currently being sold locally in China,” affirmed Contreras.

The company is targeting increased brand positioning in key European and Latin American markets, specifically Spain, Argentina, Peru, Chile, Guatemala, and the Dominican Republic. “Some markets are roaring to life or growing strongly, while others remain somewhat stagnant,” he noted.

Speaking about Spain, he acknowledged a slowdown but reaffirmed the company’s long-term view: “We’re focusing on strategic clients who have a clear understanding of quality and are committed to working with sustainable and reliable suppliers over time.”

Yingli Solar also sees financial stability as part of its competitive advantage: “As manufacturers, we must provide warranties that exceed 30 years. One of our value propositions lies not only in technology and service, but also in sustainability, having strong financial health to support clients over the long term and reduce their investment risks.”

Roadmap Towards Tandem Cell Technology

Yingli Solar is advancing along a defined technological roadmap. “Right now, we’re focused on evolving Type TOPCon technology. The next step will be rear-contact technology, followed by tandem cell technology, where we’re talking about cell efficiencies above 30%,” revealed Contreras.

Insights from Panel 4: Solar and Storage Trends in Spain

In addition to the exclusive interview, Luis Contreras participated in Panel 4 at FES Iberia 2025, titled “Trends in Solar Energy and Storage in Spain: A Vision from Industry Leaders”, where he shared his outlook on the Spanish market.

There, he underlined the need to integrate efficiency with storage solutions: “Storage integration is essential to stabilise the grid and improve energy output.”

He also pointed to the importance of modular system design: “We must develop modular systems that can adapt to demand peaks and offer operational flexibility, especially in dynamic markets such as Spain.”

“Innovation in technology is our way of contributing as technologists to the market,” he concluded during the panel discussion.

With the launch of the Plateau Panda 3.0 module, Yingli Solar strengthens its technological leadership and global expansion strategy. The product not only boosts energy efficiency but also offers practical solutions for reducing system costs in highly competitive markets.

From FES Iberia 2025, the company made it clear that its value proposition extends far beyond the product itself. It combines technological advancement, financial stability, solid warranties, and a well-defined roadmap to help drive the energy future in Europe and Latin America.
