Tongwei Solar is betting on its G12R-66 and G12-66 modules to improve energy performance and reduce the levelized cost of energy (LCOE) in large-scale solar projects. These are two bifacial N-type half-cell models that achieve power outputs between 650 and 750 Wp .
Both products are presented in the PVBook 2025 , produced by Energía Estratégica , and belong to the TNC 2.0 series , which incorporates innovations such as 908 Technology (0BB) , TPE , Poly Tech and stencil printing.
These improvements boost efficiency and bifaciality— over 88% —making these modules a solid alternative for projects where resource optimization is key. “ More light. More power. More benefits ,” the company summarizes in its presentation.
The company supports its claim with concrete simulations from a 100 MW project in Rio de Janeiro , where the G12R-66 model achieved a 0.63% higher energy efficiency , producing 42.94 million kWh over 30 years . Meanwhile, the G12-66 achieved an additional 0.71% , generating 48.08 million kWh in the same period.
From an economic standpoint, the results are equally significant. The G12R-66 reduced CAPEX by 1.40% and LCOE by 1.67% , in addition to improving land use efficiency by 4.62% . The G12-66 , for its part, showed a CAPEX reduction of 1.19% , a 1.59% decrease in LCOE , and a 4% improvement in land use . “ One module, double the revenue ,” summarizes Tongwei Solar.
These figures also reflect the optimized physical design of the modules, with dimensions of 2384 x 1303 mm (G12-66) and 2382 x 1134 mm (G12R-66) . Both products offer a 30-year power warranty , guaranteeing their long-term operation and stability in demanding environments—a critical requirement for developers in the region.
By employing TOPCon type N technology , the firm achieves higher rates of bifaciality and efficiency , especially under conditions of low irradiance and high temperatures, common in various areas of Latin America .
This makes the G12R-66 and G12-66 models strategic tools for solar projects in countries like Brazil, Mexico, Chile, or Colombia , where developers seek to maximize generation and return.
The clear focus on the utility scale segment is reflected in the company’s value proposition: ” Designed for large-scale power plants, combining high power density with superior system value ,” says Tongwei.
Global recognition for reliability
Alongside the rollout of its new models, Tongwei achieved a key milestone in 2025 by being recognized by Kiwa PVEL as the top-performing company of the year , thanks to its outstanding results in reliability tests. It is one of only two companies in the global top 10 to receive the highest ratings in all accelerated stress tests .
In particular, the TNC series modules demonstrated performance exceeding international standards even under extreme environmental conditions, such as high humidity, high temperatures, and prolonged thermal cycling.
This recognition aligns with Tongwei’s strategy to consolidate itself as a reliable supplier for long-term projects , focusing on durability, sustained power and technical support, in addition to the combination of energy efficiency, cost savings, proven reliability and constant innovation .
