The repowering of solar plants is becoming a priority across Europe, and Solis is making a strong bet on this segment. Our European team is placing a strong focus on promoting our products for revamping projects,” says Maribel Otaño, Country Manager at Solis, who emphasizes that many markets such as Spain, Italy and Germany have plants whose inverters have already reached the end of their useful life or belong to brands that no longer exist.

“It’s not a potential market—it’s already installed and sooner or later it will have to be replaced. In Italy alone, we are talking about 10 to 11 GW installed over the last decade,” adds Otaño, in an exclusive interview with Strategic Energy Europe at Intersolar 2025.

She explains that many old inverters cannot handle the current levels of modern solar panels. To address this, Solis is developing solutions adapted to older regulations, which avoid having to completely rebuild the installations and risk losing incentives or regulatory benefits.

A hybrid solution ready to dominate the market

At Intersolar Europe, Solis unveiled the S6-EH3P125K10-NV-YD-H, the world’s most powerful wall-mounted hybrid inverter, featuring a 4-in-1 design tailored for commercial energy storage.

This solution features SmartPort, allowing up to six units to be connected in parallel, and includes dual battery interfaces, each with 100 amperes of charge/discharge capacity, scaling up to 200 amperes when connected in parallel.

“The 30–50 kW solution is already being well received; so we believe the 100–125 kW model will be very well welcomed,” explains Gisela Páez, Product Solutions Specialist at Solis. She emphasises that there was clear demand for more powerful systems: “It’s a solution the market needed and one that was previously missing, so we believe it will gain rapid traction.”

Technology and intelligence to gain ground in Europe

Solis continues its rapid expansion across multiple European markets. The company is currently the number one brand in the United Kingdom, with a strong presence in Germany, France, Spain, Italy and the Netherlands. It is also expanding into Eastern Europe, focusing on Romania, Poland, Bulgaria and Ukraine.

“In countries where we’re already established, we aim to maintain our market share. In countries where we are just entering, like Portugal or Romania, we plan to grow step by step,” notes Páez. Solis relies heavily on compatibility: its inverters are interoperable with nearly every battery brand available on the market, providing customers flexibility based on cost, technology and local availability.

The company also celebrated its 20th anniversary, highlighting that it has surpassed 100 GW of installations globally.

Artificial intelligence for more efficient management

Another highlight in Munich was SolisAI, a smart assistant integrated into the SolisCloud platform. This system learns customers’ energy consumption habits, predicts electricity prices, and incorporates weather forecasting to dynamically adjust solar production and storage.

“The goal is for the platform to learn from user consumption patterns and limit PV output when electricity prices are negative to avoid penalties,” says Páez. The tool is already available in Germany and the UK, and is expected to be rolled out in Italy, Spain, and Portugal by the end of summer.

The rise of storage and its impact on the business

The growth of energy storage is one of the most significant trends in Europe. “We are seeing an increase in storage demand, both residential and industrial, largely driven by the drop in low-voltage battery prices,” says Páez.

She also points out that the recent blackout on the Iberian Peninsula has renewed interest in backup-enabled solutions. “Since 2024, we’ve seen major growth in commercial-industrial storage,” she adds.

To meet this demand, Solis has launched hybrid solutions for both single-phase systems (S6 series with SmartPort) and three-phase systems with high-voltage batteries, tailored for high-demand regions such as Eastern Europe. Additionally, its S6-EH3P(29.9–50)K-H line, with 200% PV input and dual output, is designed for factories, logistics centres and EV charging stations.

“There is growing demand for industrial storage in large-scale plants, and we are already receiving many orders,” confirms Otaño.

Tailored technical support for every installation

Beyond product development, Solis reinforces its technical support capabilities to assist during the energy transition. “We are analysing each case individually to find the best solution for every plant,” emphasises Otaño.

This is particularly relevant in repowering projects, where the technical details of each site determine whether a replacement is viable without losing regulatory incentives.
