With a consolidated presence in Spain and Portugal, Risen Energy chooses Future Energy Summit Iberia as a key platform to strengthen its position in Europe.
At the meeting, the company will showcase its vision for the future of the energy sector and present advances in hybridization, storage, and high-efficiency modules.
“FES is an opportunity to lay the groundwork for what may come in the following months,” says Juan Antonio Irastorza, the company’s Business Development Director, in an interview with Strategic Energy Europe.
In his analysis, he highlights that FES allows for the identification of emerging trends, the creation of strategic alliances, and the sharing of knowledge with market leaders.

European strategy and focus on southern Europe
Since the end of 2023, Risen Energy has been structuring a local technical department to support developments on the continent. “What we see is that the volume of projects we’re going to have to tackle will require prior preparation,” he warns.
The team is comprised of three key divisions: engineering, pre- and post-sales services, and product development. “With this, we can address all challenges and achieve greater penetration in renewables through this lever,” explains the executive.
In addition to Iberia, the company is planning a strong expansion in Italy , a market where it sees an acceleration in storage regulations and opportunities in agrivoltaics.
France and Germany also appear on the radar , due to the lower energy costs for electro-intensive industries.
Storage and hybridization: the keys to the new paradigm
Irastorza emphasizes that the company is “involved in a very large volume of batteries this year,” although he declines to provide specific figures. He also warns that the lack of regulation limits access to financing , a barrier that hinders the definitive takeoff of storage in the region.
“Without capacity markets, financing entities don’t invest. That’s what we’re constantly hearing,” he says. Even so, the company emphasizes that the reduction in the cost of lithium batteries “has a very positive impact” on the viability of projects in Iberia.
When asked about hybridization, the executive is categorical: “It is undoubtedly a solution for the market situation as anticipated in the coming years.” He also anticipates that Risen will make announcements related to this axis at the FES panel , reinforcing its commitment to this technology as a structural strategy.
“Made in Europe” and the challenges of regional industrialization
In a context where Europe is seeking to promote local production, Irastorza offers a critical perspective. “Production costs remain a challenge,” he warns. In his opinion, the key is not cheap labor but more automation , complemented by sustained investment in R&D.
“The investment in R&D is enormous, and that leads to greater efficiency in production,” he emphasizes. At the same time, he warns about the effects of protectionist policies: “There are global benchmarks where tariffs don’t always favor the quality of the final product.”
As an example, he mentions the case of Argentina: “ The industry developed, but when it went out to compete abroad, quality levels were affected by years of protection .”
FES Iberia 2025: the strategic meeting point

The edition will include panels on solar, wind, storage, PPAs, and tenders, as well as new spaces dedicated to offtakers and renewable development in Southern Europe . The event will also feature private meetings and networking cocktails to facilitate the forging of strategic alliances.
“What those who attend expect from Risen Energy is that we share the most specific developments and trends they need to consider,” Irastorza concludes. In this vein, FES Iberia is positioning itself as a key forum for anticipating what’s coming in the European energy transition.
