Red Eléctrica will begin construction of the new 220 kV Saguntum substation in the first week of November. This strategic infrastructure is vital for the economic and industrial development of the Valencian Community, essential for enabling the new investments announced in Sagunto.

The project was included in the modifications to the 2021–2026 Planning (MAPs), approved earlier this year by the Council of Ministers. Immediately after the Saguntum substation was incorporated into the current electrical plan in April, Red Eléctrica began the project processing phase.

The early start of construction is the result of the intensive work carried out by Red Eléctrica since the publication of the planning modifications. This includes detailed engineering, material procurement, and construction bidding, along with obtaining all necessary authorizations. These include the Environmental Impact Statement, the Preliminary Administrative Authorization, the Construction Administrative Authorization, and the Declaration of Public Utility issued by the Generalitat Valenciana. These preparatory efforts have shortened the timeline, with the substation expected to be operational by 2026.

The substation is part of a broader set of infrastructures in which Red Eléctrica will invest approximately €62 million. This investment aims to facilitate major automotive industry projects announced in Sagunto that are tied to the transformation of mobility through reliable power supply. It serves as a catalyst for the economic dynamization of the Valencia province, with significant ripple effects on the wider business and industrial sectors of the Valencian Community.
