The Port Authority has organized, in collaboration with the PortCastelló Foundation, the “II Conference on Economy and Sustainability: The Value Chain of the Offshore Wind Industry,” which will take place next Tuesday at the Moll de Costa hall in the Port of Castellón.
The event will focus on the development of the offshore wind industry’s value chain and will address the current landscape of the sector in Spain, as well as its future projections. It is aimed at the port community, businesses, professionals, the Town Hall, the Provincial Council, the Chamber of Commerce, the airport, CEV, and other institutions.
The president of the Port Authority, Rubén Ibáñez, emphasized that “the Port of Castellón is a key port for this industry” and assured that “from PortCastelló, we are going to drive the sector’s growth by providing essential infrastructure, innovation, and industrial capabilities to lead offshore wind.”
Furthermore, Ibáñez stated that “the Port of Castellón was ahead of the curve, positioning itself early, and today it is in an advantageous position to lead the future energy challenges that the port system must tackle.” He added, “We are ready for the energy of the future, both in energy production and in the manufacturing of the instruments that make it possible, such as offshore wind.”

II Conference on Economy and Sustainability: The Value Chain of the Offshore Wind Industry
The conference will cover topics such as the industrial and technological capabilities of the port wind ecosystem, synergies between key stakeholders in the value chain, from component manufacturing to installation and maintenance, opportunities for companies, the infrastructure and logistics needed for implementation, and the economic, social, and environmental impact of this industry on coastal regions.
The program includes the participation of Juan Virgilio Márquez, CEO of the Spanish Wind Energy Business Association (AEE), who will speak about the offshore wind situation in Spain. José Luis Grau, Global Operations Manager at LM Windpower; Pablo Sarrasqueta, CEO of Integral Shipping; and Juan Feijoó, Wind Strategy and BD Director at Ferrovial Energy Offshore, will participate in the roundtable “Industrial Capabilities of the Port Wind Ecosystem in the Valencian Community.”
Additionally, the director of the Port Authority, Manuel García, will give the presentation “The Development Plan of AP Castellón as the Main Offshore Industrial Hub of the Western Mediterranean.” This will be followed by the roundtable “Port Needs for the Upcoming Offshore Market,” with the participation of Irene Souto, Head of the Port and Commercial Development Department of the Port Authority of A Coruña; Daniel González, Senior Manager at Blue Float Energy; Roberto Bouzas, General Director and WindWaves at Grupo Amper; and María Giménez, Supply Chain Manager Offshore Development at RWE Renewables.
