DANA provoca graves afectaciones en el sector energético de España: Valencia y Aragón entre las más impactadas

The passage of the Isolated Depression at High Levels (DANA) through Spain has caused significant disruptions across multiple sectors, including renewable energy. Recent torrential rains and flooding have damaged areas, particularly in the Valencian Community and other regions affected by this phenomenon in recent hours, such as Aragón, Catalonia, and Castilla-La Mancha.

In Valencia, the floods and hailstorms have inflicted severe damage on land and infrastructure. The losses in the energy sector have yet to be fully assessed, according to reports from Energía Estratégica España.

The team from the Ministry for the Ecological Transition and the Demographic Challenge, including former Minister Teresa Ribera and Energy Secretary Sara Aagesen, visited the AEMET facilities to closely monitor the developments of this phenomenon.

Additionally, Red Eléctrica, Iberdrola, Endesa, and other companies have deployed hundreds of workers to address the needs of citizens who have lost energy supply, with some companies gradually announcing the restoration of services in certain areas.

In conversation with Energía Estratégica España, APPA Renovables reported that there have been no confirmed damages to renewable energy generation facilities so far, although several members have seen their activities affected due to damage to their homes.

In the last few hours, it has been confirmed that the DANA is now impacting the Aragón and Catalonia communities, where road closures, suspended transport lines, and severe damage in several municipalities have been reported.

Furthermore, authorities have issued red alerts for heavy rain and storms in the locality of Jerez in Andalusia.

An assessment of the damage caused to the sector and the response from companies will soon follow.
