MITECO promotes over 1 GW of renewable power and rejects 523 MW

In the last 15 days, the Ministry for Ecological Transition (MITECO) has responded to over 1 GW of renewable power, advancing 736 MW, of which 668.7 MW corresponds to photovoltaic projects, 40 MW to wind projects, and 27.46 MW to a battery storage project by Iberdrola in Burgos. Meanwhile, it rejected 523 MW of wind projects.

As detailed in its record by Energía Estratégica España, the Environmental Impact Declarations (EIDs) for 582 MW of renewable projects were not approved, including 151 MW of wind projects driven by Capital Energy, which did not receive the administration’s approval and will need to undergo modifications to proceed with the processing.

On the other hand, a total of 431 MW of photovoltaic projects did receive positive EIDs. These include 223 MW from two initiatives by Benbros Solar, 39.9 MW from Enel Green Power, and 168 MW from Parrales Solar with their Andalusian Elvira Solar park.

Of the 399.46 MW that received a response from the administrative body in the Pre-Administrative Authorization (PAA), 372 MW were rejected, all of which were wind farms driven by Forestalia, Capital Energy, Jorge Energy, and Nearco Renovables.

One single project received both its PAA approval and construction permit. This is Iberdrola’s stand-alone battery storage park, adding 27.46 MW to its Revilla-Vallejera photovoltaic plant with 44.199 MW in Burgos.

This project has an energy storage capacity of 59.904 MWh; it includes 26 containers, eight racks, consisting of 15 battery modules, and plans to install 13 inverters with 2.353 MVA of unit power.

Alongside Iberdrola’s storage project, 277.7 MW reached the final stage before being “ready to build.”

This includes the 40 MW Aixeindar wind park, named Labraza, in the Navarre region, and the solar parks from Prodiel, with 165.2 MW, and from TotalEnergies, with 72.5 MW.
