As part of the Future Energy Summit Iberia 2025, one of the year’s key events for the energy sector in Spain and Latin America, IPROCEL shared its strategy to consolidate its position as an international leader in renewable energy and the global energy transition.

Laura Nuez Santana, Head of Production and Business Development at the company, spoke in an exclusive audiovisual interview with Strategic Energy, revealing the firm’s main growth areas.

“We are driving new business lines that we believe will be key to the development of the energy sector”, says Nuez Santana.

The engineering company, headquartered in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, has 30 years of experience and has become a global player with a permanent presence in strategic markets such as Mexico, the United States, the Dominican Republic, Guatemala, South Africa and Romania.

“Our experience covers more than 50 gigawatts of installed capacity in over 40 countries, working with both private and public companies”, highlights the executive.

The firm provides comprehensive engineering services across the energy, industrial, electrical infrastructure and oil & gas sectors. It employs over 250 professionals and maintains close relationships with the most important energy companies in both domestic and international markets.

Key services and large-scale projects

IPROCEL structures its operations around three main service areas: engineering and supervision, EPC (turnkey) projects, and commissioning services.

In the engineering field, the company supports clients from basic design to detailed engineering, including protection, control and measurement systems, as well as owner’s engineering and project management services. “We have led large-scale photovoltaic plant projects, from Spain to Chile, with capacities of up to 375 megawatts”, explains Nuez Santana.

Regarding EPC projects, the company fully executes electrical substations and high-voltage lines. It currently has seven active projects with voltage levels up to 220 kilovolts, spread between Spain and various Latin American countries.

A core business for the company continues to be commissioning services, a fundamental area since IPROCEL’s inception. This includes commissioning all types of generation and industrial facilities, from conventional thermal plants to renewable installations, substations and transmission lines.

“We have completed and continue to oversee the commissioning of three offshore wind farms of up to 900 megawatts in countries like France, Germany and the United States”, states the Head of Production.

New markets and diversification into storage and digitalisation

Looking ahead, IPROCEL has a clear vision: to continue leading the energy transition by focusing on innovation and internationalisation.

“We are exploring floating offshore and photovoltaic parks, and energy storage solutions, from batteries to reversible pumped storage, as well as infrastructure digitalisation”, reveals Nuez Santana.

The company also plans to expand into new emerging markets, where significant energy developments are expected in the coming years. “We are assessing our entry into Ecuador, Panama and Brazil, where substantial energy projects are planned for the next decade”, details the executive.

Alongside these new destinations, IPROCEL will strengthen its presence in countries where it already operates, such as Guatemala, the Dominican Republic, and the United States, and continue to support clients throughout the entire project lifecycle.

A strategic framework: FES Iberia 2025

IPROCEL’s participation took place during the Future Energy Summit Iberia 2025 (FES Iberia 2025), a key event for exchanging experiences and creating synergies between energy companies from Spain and Latin America. The summit focused on the role of energy efficiency, digitalisation and storage as key drivers of the energy transition in the region.

“We see significant growth potential in emerging countries with major projects planned, and we believe this is the right moment to invest heavily in these markets”, concludes Nuez Santana.
