Iberdrola surpassed its historical figures for electricity distributed through its electricity networks in a quarter with 62,577 GWh, an increase of 1.7% compared to the same period in 2024, as reported today to the Spanish National Securities Market Commission (CNMV).
This good operational performance of the network business is the result of the increase in demand for electricity in all areas where the company operates, such as Spain, the United Kingdom, the United States and Brazil, and also of greater electrification of the economy.
The company achieved 25,222 GWh of renewable generation during the first three months of the year, 4.9% more than in the same period of the previous year. By country, the increases in production in Brazil (+24.6%) and the United States (+8.3%) stand out. Spain once again reached record levels of generation in the first part of the year, surpassing 10,737 GWh of renewables, an increase of 2.4%.
Iberdrola has installed more than 2,511 MW of renewable capacity in the last twelve months, increasing its installed renewable capacity by 5.4% compared to the same period last year. This brings the group’s total renewable capacity to 44,675 MW. Of note was the start of operations at the iconic Saint Brieuc offshore wind project (496 MW) in Brittany, France.
Commitment to electrification
These quarterly results confirm Iberdrola’s commitment to the electrification of the economy, energy self-sufficiency, supply security and the transformation of the energy sector, driven by investments exceeding 160 billion euros over the last 25 years.
Europe’s largest electricity company by market value generates 100% emissions-free energy in countries such as the UK, Brazil, France, Italy, Germany, Poland, Portugal and Greece. In Spain, emissions-free generation reaches 92%.
