Global expansion and local supply chains: Ideematec's strategy to lead the solar market

IDEEMATEC, a German company specialising in the manufacture of utility-scale solar trackers, announced its ambitious global expansion strategy.

Jorge Marcaida Zugazaga, Senior Key Account Manager at company, highlighted that the company has developed local supply chains in Europe, the United States, Latin America, South Africa, and the Middle East to adapt to market fluctuations and strengthen its competitive position in the solar industry.

“Our strategy is based on three pillars: innovation, supply chain optimisation, and focus on strategic clients and regions,” explains Marcaida.

He also added that these pillars enable IDEEMATEC to be a global leader in the supply of solar trackers, adapting to the needs of each market with innovative solutions such as the Eltec product line and agrivoltaic trackers.

This announcement was made during the Storage, Renewable and Electric Vehicles Integration Forum, a virtual event held on Tuesday, 18th (eMobility Leaders) and Wednesday, 19th February (Renewable Energy Leaders), bringing together leading companies from the energy and electric mobility sectors to discuss future challenges and opportunities.

The first Strategic Energy Corp event of the year was a two-part virtual session hosted by Mobility Portal Europe and Strategic Energy Europe. Strategic Energy Corp., a Future Energy Summit (FES) member company, deliver this event. FES is the premier platform for renewable energy encounters in Spanish-speaking countries, providing forums that facilitate debate and networking among top global and regional companies to drive the energy transition.

It is worth noting that on June 24, the third edition of FES Iberia 2025 will take place at Colegio Caminos (Auditorio Betancourt, C. de Almagro, 42, Chamberí) in Madrid. (Relive the previous edition.) The encounter will feature companies such as Iberdrola, Nextracker, Engie, Grenergy, Statkraft, Acciona Energía, Red Eléctrica, and EDP Renewables, along with prominent representatives from Spain’s Autonomous Communities and Latin America. Key topics of discussion will include solar and wind energy, energy storage, green hydrogen, distributed generation, PPAs, auctions, and new projects.

Three Strategic Pillars: Innovation, Focus, and Optimisation

During Panel 4, titled “The Future of Solar Energy in Europe – Opportunities in Strategic Markets”, Jorge Marcaida shared that IDEEMATEC’s approach focuses on implementing local supply chains to comply with local content requirements and enhance responsiveness to fluctuations in raw material costs and regulatory changes.

“We are present in Europe with offices in Germany and Spain, and we have developed a local supply chain to adapt regionally,” he detailed.

The local manufacturing strategy has also been implemented in the United States, Latin America, South Africa, and the Middle East, allowing the company to meet local content requirements and seize opportunities in these expanding markets.

This operational flexibility has been crucial to maintaining global competitiveness amidst economic uncertainty and cost volatility.

Regarding product innovation, IDEEMATEC continues to lead the market with its L:TEC product line, launched in 2022, which offers configurable solar trackers adaptable to terrains with slopes of up to 36%, reducing operation and maintenance costs.

Additionally, the company has developed agrivoltaic trackers in 1P and 2P configurations, enabling the coexistence of energy and agricultural production – an innovative solution for the European market.

“Our products are designed to adapt to customer needs, from single-string tables to configurations of up to eight tables,” said Marcaida, adding that this feature not only optimises installation but also reduces the carbon footprint by using less steel and pre-assembled components.
