The countdown has begun for the meeting that will bring together executives, regulators and technology providers to analyse the progress of bilateral contracts, the strengthening of the MAT (Argentina’s renewable term market) and the increasing prominence of energy storage in a context that is redefining investment dynamics in the country and across the Southern Cone.
FES Argentina Renewables & Storage is entering its final stretch ahead of its 4–5 March event in Buenos Aires. In just a few days, Future Energy Summit (FES) will gather hundreds of representatives from leading companies, public bodies and top-tier market players for a forum focused on high-level debate and strategic networking.
Among the keynote speakers are Martín Mandarano, CEO of YPF Luz; Bernardo Andrews, CEO of Genneia; and Martín Brandi, CEO of PCR and president of the Argentine Chamber of Renewable Energy Generators and Value Chain (CEA).
They will take part in the session “A Conversation with Major Energy Companies: Project Profiles, New Business Models and Long-Term Expectations”, providing the perspective of leading generators at a time of transition towards bilateral power purchase agreements (PPAs).
On the technology, development and EPC side, confirmed participants include:
-
Marcos Donzino, Head of Sales South America at JA Solar
-
Miguel Covarrubias, LATAM Sales Director at Jinko Solar
-
Ricardo Garro, Commercial Director for Latin America at CATL (Contemporary Amperex Technology Co. Limited)
-
Juan Pablo Alagia, Development and Technology Manager at 360 Energy
-
Alejandro Garín Odriozola, Operations Director at Solar DQD
-
Gabriel Vendrell, Energy Resources Manager at Aluar
Also attending will be Juan Luchilo, General Manager of CAMMESA, and Gustavo Báez, Head of Renewable Energy at CAMMESA — the entity responsible for administering Argentina’s Wholesale Electricity Market (MEM). The organisation has been instrumental in the development of the renewable energy sector and will assume a new role under the redesigned wholesale market framework.
The provincial level will also be represented by Claudio Puértolas, President of EPEC Córdoba; Gastón Ghioni, Undersecretary of Energy of Buenos Aires Province; and María Cecilia Mijich, Undersecretary of Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency of Santa Fe. Their participation will broaden the discussion on engineering, operations, regulation and the deployment of new technologies across Argentina’s power system.
The agenda will prioritise the key issues currently shaping the sector, including analysis of Resolution SE No. 400/2025 and the consolidation of the MAT as the main renewable energy procurement mechanism. It will also address the rapid growth of energy storage following the award of 713 MW in the AlmaGBA tender and expectations surrounding the forthcoming national storage call, AlmaSADI.
These topics will be explored in panels such as “Solar PV and Energy Storage Outlook in Argentina’s New Market Context” and “The Future of Storage and Renewable Energy in Argentina”, where participants will debate project competitiveness and bankability under the new regulatory framework.
The regional dimension will also feature prominently with the participation of Paraguay’s Vice-Minister of Energy, who will take part in a keynote interview on business opportunities linked to the country’s forthcoming solar auction.
In addition, the event will host a panel discussion focused on the competitiveness of renewable energy and battery energy storage systems (BESS) in the Southern Cone, expanding the conversation to include regional investment in renewables and cross-border energy integration opportunities.
What is the current state of renewables in Argentina? The country has 7,843 MW of installed renewable capacity within the Wholesale Electricity Market (excluding large hydropower). Meanwhile, the MAT framework records 85 applications totalling 3,646.5 MW with dispatch priority requests, alongside a further 51 awarded projects exceeding 2,300 MW that are still pending commercial operation.
The coordination between renewable generation, energy storage and private PPAs will be decisive for the sector’s next phase of expansion.
In this context, Energía Estratégica has released a special report titled “Argentina Redefines Its Energy Market: Companies, Projects and Opportunities Under the Milei Administration”. The document reviews the leading companies driving renewable energy development in the country, analyses a pipeline exceeding 10 GW across operational, awarded and early-stage projects, and outlines how corporate leadership is being reshaped under a bilateral contract-driven model.
The report also identifies the business groups with the greatest expansion capacity and examines the entry of new international players, assessing investment in renewable generation and energy storage under the redesigned Wholesale Electricity Market. (Download here).
With extensive networking spaces where hundreds of executives advance strategic agreements and structure new developments, FES Argentina Renewables & Storage positions itself as a key forum where decisions shaping Argentina’s energy transition and the wider Southern Cone market are debated.
