Factiun aims to position itself among the top five global manufacturers of trackers and photovoltaic structures in the coming years. Despite being a relatively new brand, the company benefits from over 20 years of combined experience from its founders and directors, boasting a project portfolio exceeding 12 GW in solar trackers and 7 GW in fixed structures.

“Our goal is to be among the top five global manufacturers of trackers and photovoltaic structures in the coming years,” states María Barbarin, Head of Business Development, in an interview with Strategic Energy Europe. The company has assembled a technical and commercial team with extensive experience, enabling it to take confident steps toward ambitious international expansion, focusing on Europe and Latin America.

Established Presence and Strategic Expansion in Europe

Operating from its headquarters in Navarra, Factiun has established commercial operations in countries like France, Poland and Germany, providing local support to key clients and conducting market studies in regions such as Italy, Hungary, Romania, and other Eastern European countries.

“We want to be present in markets that, although not mature today, have significant potential in the coming years,” emphasises Barbarin. Participation in strategic fairs like Intersolar Europe has allowed them to showcase their innovative solutions and position the Factiun brand as a competitive player with an international vision.

The Evolution of the Spanish Market: Opportunities and Adjustments

Although the growth of the photovoltaic sector in Spain has moderated compared to recent years, Factiun continues to view the local market as strategic. “The average size of projects has decreased, but construction remains dynamic,” notes Marketing Manager Javier Recalde.

New conditions have led to a diversification of formats, with a surge in bilateral power purchase agreements (PPAs) and a greater atomization of developments. “We are adapting our proposal to the market’s particularities and the new needs of clients,” Recalde adds.

Recently, they announced a new 52 MW solar project in Spain, featuring 760 units of the FACTIUN TRX® solar tracker, designed to maximise energy capture in complex terrains. This plant will generate clean energy sufficient to supply approximately 29,150 households, reinforcing the company’s commitment to the energy transition and its position as a reliable supplier in the country.

Factiun FIX®, and TRX®: Competitive Solutions for a Demanding Market

At Intersolar Europe, the company presented its main products: Fix and TRX, designed to address the technical challenges of new solar projects.

Factiun TRX® is a bifacial tracker with 3D backtracking technology and high adaptability to irregular terrains and models of large dimensions. “TRX ensures superior production even in challenging conditions, with high resilience to extreme weather phenomena,” notes Barbarin.

Factiun FIX® is the robust alternative for fixed structures, ideal for projects with high winds or topographical limitations, featuring advanced wind tunnel studies. “FIX is ideal for projects requiring stability and durability, especially in extreme conditions like cyclonic winds,” she adds.

Agri-Photovoltaics and Technological Adaptation: A Commitment to Versatility

One of the most notable aspects of Factiun’s technological evolution is its ability to adapt to new sector trends, such as agri-photovoltaics. “The monopost fixed structures we develop are particularly useful in agrovoltaic projects, as they facilitate cultivation under the panels by reducing post density,” explains Barbarin.

Additionally, the company has strengthened its investment in R&D, allocating a minimum of 2% of its annual revenue to technological developments, focusing on new structural configurations, aerodynamics, international certifications, and compliance with local regulations in various markets.

Latin America as a Growth Territory

Factiun’s global positioning isn’t limited to Europe. The company has identified Latin America as a strategic region, both for its solar potential and the need for technical solutions adapted to complex terrains and regulations.

Currently, Factiun is executing its largest project to date in Peru, totalling 180 MW, and is evaluating opportunities in Colombia, Guatemala, and the Dominican Republic. “Our team already has operational experience in Central America and LATAM, and we are committed to establishing ourselves there,” comments Recalde.

To strengthen its presence, the company is preparing a technical and commercial expedition to the region starting in September, seeking local partnerships and new supply contracts.
