From 10 to 12 June, the European Commission will host the EU Sustainable Energy Week (EUSEW 2024) in Brussels – a three-day policy conference dedicated to advancing the transition towards clean, competitive and affordable energy for European citizens and businesses.

Under this year’s theme, “Powering a Fair and Competitive Green Transition,” the event will bring together policymakers, energy stakeholders, civil society and citizens to discuss the next steps in Europe’s clean energy transformation.

The conference will be officially opened on 10 June by Commissioner for Energy and Housing, Dan Jørgensen, with a keynote address. This will be followed by the EUSEW Awards Ceremony, where Executive Vice-President for a Clean, Just and Competitive Transition, Teresa Ribera, will recognise outstanding individuals and projects contributing to the clean energy transition. In the afternoon, Commissioner for Climate, Net Zero and Clean Growth, Wopke Hoekstra, will deliver a keynote speech on the Clean Industrial Deal.

As part of the programme, Commissioner Jørgensen will also hold a high-level dialogue with key stakeholders to discuss the implementation of EU legislation designed to speed up and simplify permitting processes for renewable energy projects. Accelerating the rollout of clean energy infrastructure remains a priority in the EU’s efforts to reduce energy costs and enhance industrial competitiveness.

EUSEW is the largest annual event in Europe dedicated to renewables and energy efficiency. It attracts over 10,000 participants each year, including policymakers, industry leaders, businesses, NGOs and citizens.

Attendance is open both in person and online, subject to registration. The full programme is available on the official EUSEW website.
