FES Chile begins today, drawing the attention of the regional energy industry to a new edition of the most influential event for the sector in Spanish-speaking Latin America. On 26 and 27 November, Santiago becomes the meeting point for the key players of the renewable energy ecosystem, with an agenda centred on the expansion of solar PV, wind power and battery energy storage systems (BESS).

The fourth edition of the Future Energy Summit in Chile places Renewables & Storage at the core of its programme and will feature senior government officials and top-level executives. They will discuss regulatory frameworks, strategic investment opportunities and ongoing tenders that will shape the pace of the energy market over the coming years.

A key highlight of the event will be the CEO panel, titled “Vision from Major Energy Investors in the Southern Cone.” Executives from some of the region’s most influential utilities and IPPs (independent power producers) will discuss the future of renewable energy development and the expansion of utility-scale battery systems:

  • Juan Villavicencio – CEO – ENGIE Chile

  • Gianluca Palumbo – CEO – Enel Chile

  • Joan Leal – CEO – EDF Power Solutions Chile

  • Jaime Toledo – CEO South America – Acciona Energía

  • José Ignacio Escobar – CEO – Colbún

  • Moderator: Fernanda Varela – Executive Director – Polux Communications

The second day will also feature a major institutional moment. Luis Felipe Ramos Barrera, Chile’s Undersecretary of Energy, will lead the VIP networking breakfast and inaugurate the BESS Experience, a dedicated space focused on battery energy storage systems—a technology now considered the backbone of the region’s energy transition. With more than 1,800 MW of operational BESS capacity and a pipeline expected to exceed 8 GW by 2027, Chile continues to position itself as a global benchmark in large-scale storage deployment.

Beyond the technological impact, storage is also generating measurable economic effects. According to official data, BESS integration has already reduced solar marginal costs by up to USD 100/MWh in some substations—an indicator reshaping project economics and investment strategies.

Institutional dialogue will remain central to the summit. In partnership with OLADE (the Latin American Energy Organisation), the opening panel on day two will explore energy policy priorities across the Southern Cone, with participation from:

  • Mauricio Bejarano – Vice Minister of Mines and Energy – Paraguay

  • María Helena Lee – Head of Strategic Planning – Chile’s Ministry of Energy

  • Agustín González – Energy Efficiency Manager – Uruguay’s National Energy Directorate

  • Antonio Milanese – Undersecretary for Energy Transition and Planning – Argentina

  • Andrés Rebolledo – Executive Secretary – OLADE

Another major focus will be the status of regional tenders, including how competitive processes are shaping the energy mix, improving bankability for new contracts and defining the role of storage technologies within future power systems.

The 2025 edition of FES Chile will also be supported by a robust group of sponsoring companies. Major partners include Sungrow; CATL (designated as the event’s Storage Elite Partner); JA Solar; Huawei; Trina Solar; NextPower; Canadian Solar; Yingli Solar; ZNShine Solar; Nordex; Black & Veatch; Solar Steel; Elecnor Chile; and Siemens.

Additional contributors include BLC Power Generation, Forbis, Alurack, Great Power and Generadora Metropolitana, alongside strategic allies such as GPM, Polux Communications, ACERA, OLADE and Generadoras de Chile.

BLC Power Generation’s participation is particularly notable, as the company leverages FES Chile to strengthen its regional expansion strategy and reinforce its presence in key Latin American energy markets. With a focus on sustainability and innovation, the firm promotes solutions aligned with evolving grid demands and future system challenges.

FES will also highlight its institutional identity and commitment to equity. In 2024, the summit received the “Las Mujeres Suman” distinction from Chile’s Ministry of Energy, recognising its ongoing efforts to promote gender equality in the industry. The event is organised by a multicultural team led predominantly by professional women dedicated to accelerating the energy transition in Latin America through a technical and inclusive approach.

With tickets available and full live-streaming through its official YouTube channel, FES Chile is set to become the meeting point where long-term policies are examined, strategic agreements are forged, and the roadmap for the Southern Cone’s energy future is defined.
