The pilot aims to establish a functioning ecosystem and value chain for synthetic fuel production in Finland. The EU’s sustainable aviation fuel (eSAF) blending mandate creates an opportunity for Finland to become a significant producer of synthetic fuels in the future.
This landmark 300MW battery storage site is capable of powering up to 680,000 homes with instantaneous power over two hours. Thurrock Storage can respond rapidly to changes on the grid, delivering its full output of up to 600MWh within seconds.
With an installed capacity of 105.6 megawatts, it ranks among the largest repowering projects in Europe. The energy output has increased sixfold compared to the original site – made possible by state-of-the-art turbine technology.
According to data processed by ITALIA SOLARE based in Gaudì – Terna, 132,276 new photovoltaic systems were connected in the first seven months of 2025, with a total capacity of 3,354 MW. The cumulative total reached 2,011,056 million systems connected by July 30, 2025, with an installed capacity exceeding 40 GW (40,430 MW).
