The European renewable energy market is moving towards a model where the combination of solar generation and storage is key. In this context, APsystems celebrates its 15th anniversary, driving a product offering that meets the growing demand for integrated solutions for self-consumption and intelligent energy management.

“There is a clear shift in Europe; we have moved from selling only solar to offering complete solutions with storage. This year, storage will be the major trend across all European markets,” highlights Maxime Boiron, Global Marketing Director, during an exclusive interview with Strategic Energy Europe at InterSolar 2025.

The company showcased a complete range of solutions at InterSolar, from DIY plug-in systems for balconies, now including storage capabilities, to large-scale Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) for commercial and industrial (C&I) applications.

“We are demonstrating how it is possible to integrate storage even into balcony systems, a segment growing rapidly in Germany,” adds the executive.

Maximizing Self-Consumption: APsystems’ Top Priority

The company’s strategy is centered on increasing the self-consumption rate for end-users through AC-coupled solutions that integrate seamlessly with its single-phase microinverters. This approach enables users to efficiently manage the energy they generate, reducing grid dependency and optimizing energy costs.

“We are seeing different use cases, from home energy management to backup solutions and off-grid environments. This year, these solutions will become predominant in Europe,” emphasizes Boiron.

In the large-scale installations segment, APsystems continues to strengthen its position in the C&I market with storage systems reaching megawatt-hours of installed capacity. These solutions enable the full utilization of solar generation and provide backup energy services, even without the need for associated solar installations.

Artificial Intelligence Redefines Energy Management

Technological innovation is a strategic pillar for APsystems, and the integration of artificial intelligence (AI) into its products marks a major turning point.

“We are working on integrating AI algorithms to both improve the customer experience and optimize the operation of our systems,” explains Boiron.

Key AI applications include:

  • Virtual assistants to enhance customer support.
  • Self-diagnostic capabilities for storage systems, enabling predictive maintenance.
  • Automation of energy usage patterns to increase operational efficiency.

“Thanks to AI, we provide automated consumption patterns that optimize system efficiency, representing a significant shift in energy management,” notes the executive.

Market Outlook and Next Steps

The European regulatory framework, with its ambitious 2030 targets, is accelerating the adoption of self-consumption and storage solutions. While some markets show greater maturity, such as Germany and the Netherlands, others are still in the early stages, offering significant growth opportunities for APsystems.

In the coming months, the company will continue to expand its portfolio, with a strong focus on modular, scalable products compatible with various self-consumption scenarios. Additionally, it plans to further integrate artificial intelligence features to enhance its value proposition.

“Innovation is in our DNA. That’s why we continue to invest in disruptive technologies that facilitate the energy transition across all market segments, from residential to commercial and industrial,” concludes Boiron.

Applied Innovation: The Products Defining APsystems’ New Era

As part of its InterSolar showcase, APsystems presented a product portfolio tailored to meet the energy needs of various market segments. Among the key innovations were the QT2, DS3, and the new QS2 microinverters,  a cutting-edge single-phase QUAD model planned to be available at the end of this summer in Europe, and designed to deliver greater efficiency and easier installation for both residential and commercial applications.

In the storage segment, the company introduced the APstorage ELS 5-K and ELT 12-K series, advanced AC-coupled battery inverters equipped with smart software and flexible operating modes, adapting to different consumption patterns.

For those seeking smaller-scale self-consumption solutions, APsystems unveiled the EZHI hybrid single-phase microinverter, ideal for adding storage to DIY solar systems, a rapidly growing trend in markets like Germany.

In commercial and industrial applications, the company highlighted its APstorage C&I storage solutions, featuring liquid cooling systems to ensure greater thermal efficiency and scalability in large-scale projects.

Furthermore, reinforcing its commitment to urban energy integration, APsystems showcased the innovative BIPV technology from its partner company ATpower, enabling aesthetically pleasing and functional integration of solar systems into architectural building designs.
