Amazon has reached 100 renewable energy projects in Spain after adding seven new facilities in 2025, located in the regions of Andalusia and Aragon, with a combined capacity of more than 130 MW once fully operational.

Of the 100 projects, 68 are utility-scale solar and wind farms deployed across the country, while 32 are rooftop solar installations located on the company’s buildings. Together, these projects represent 3.8 GW of renewable capacity, equivalent to the annual electricity consumption of approximately 2.3 million households.

With this expansion, Spain becomes Amazon’s second-largest market for renewable energy investments, surpassed only by the United States. The milestone also supports the company’s corporate objective of achieving net-zero carbon emissions across its operations by 2040.

“Reaching 100 renewable energy projects in Spain is a significant milestone that consolidates the country as the home of the second-largest number of Amazon renewable energy investments worldwide,” said Ruth Díaz, General Manager of Amazon Spain.

“We continue investing in new renewable capacity to power our logistics and technology operations with clean energy, contribute to the country’s sustainable development, and benefit customers, employees, partners and local communities,” she added.

Globally, Amazon has invested in more than 700 carbon-free energy projects, with enough generation capacity to supply the equivalent of over 36 million European homes. Once operational, these projects not only help power Amazon’s own operations but also add new sources of clean electricity to local power grids.

The new projects in Andalusia and Aragon further reinforce the company’s map of strategic investments, aligning with the expansion of its logistics centres, technology infrastructure and energy efficiency initiatives.

According to Amazon, the pace of development of these renewable projects is expected to accelerate in the coming years, in line with its global sustainability strategy. The company aims to minimise its environmental footprint, achieve 100% renewable energy consumption across its operations and support the global transition towards a decarbonised economy.
