Peru’s Ministry of Energy and Mines (MINEM) has announced that, in the second quarter of the year, it will launch a tender for eight electricity transmission projects through the Private Investment Promotion Agency (ProInversión), with total investment exceeding USD 675 million.
The projects are part of the country’s 2025–2034 Transmission Plan and will be implemented across multiple regions. Their primary objective is to enhance the reliability of the national grid, improve service quality and ensure a timely electricity supply for thousands of users.
These developments are expected to expand electricity transmission capacity, reduce network congestion risks and accommodate growing energy demand in strategic areas, supporting regional economic growth and social development.
The projects are structured into two groups. The first includes developments in the regions of Piura, Lambayeque, Junín, Ayacucho and Cusco:
- 500 kV Miguel Grau – Pariñas transmission line and the Pariñas 500/220 kV substation, including associated expansions
- 220 kV Felam – Tierras Nuevas – Salitral transmission lines and related substations (ITC project)
- New Palián 220/60 kV substation and associated 220 kV and 60 kV transmission links (ITC project)
- 220 kV Muyurina – Mollepata transmission line and associated infrastructure (ITC project)
The second group will be developed in Lima, Ica, Cusco, Puno and Madre de Dios:
- 500 kV Colectora – Bicentenario – Chilca transmission line and associated expansions
- 220 kV Tintaya Nueva – Nueva San Gabán transmission line and related substations
- 220 kV Nueva San Gabán – Puerto Maldonado transmission line and associated infrastructure (ITC project)
- 138 kV San Román – Yocara – Maravilla (Juliaca) transmission line and related substations (ITC project)
MINEM reaffirmed its commitment to promoting modern and sustainable energy infrastructure, ensuring reliable and high-quality electricity access nationwide while enhancing competitiveness and regional development.
