Revolve secures grid connection for 130 MW wind project in Mexico

Revolve Renewable Power Corp., a North American developer, owner and operator of renewable energy projects, has signed the final interconnection agreement with Mexico’s Federal Electricity Commission (CFE) for its 130 MW EL24 wind power project in the state of Tamaulipas.

The agreement marks a major milestone for the wind farm, as it secures the technical and commercial terms under which EL24 will connect to and deliver electricity into Mexico’s national power grid. In practical terms, the deal confirms grid access rights, connection capacity and the project’s designated interconnection point—three elements that are critical for de-risking utility-scale renewable energy developments.

In parallel, the company also obtained approval from Mexico’s Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources (SEMARNAT), the federal environmental authority, for the first environmental permit required at the project site. That authorisation adds another layer of regulatory certainty as the project moves forward.

“Securing the final interconnection agreement for EL24 is a defining milestone for this project,” said CEO Myke Clark.

He added that interconnection certainty is often one of the most complex and value-accretive achievements in the development of large-scale wind power assets. According to Clark, the agreement significantly reduces project risk, confirms Revolve’s grid access rights and places EL24 firmly on the path toward Ready-to-Build (RTB) status.

EL24 already holds a definitive generation permit granted by Mexico’s National Energy Commission (CNE), the federal energy sector regulator. The project was one of only five wind farms in the country to receive this authorisation in the latest permitting round, underscoring its strategic relevance within Mexico’s renewable energy pipeline.

With both the interconnection agreement and the generation permit now secured, Revolve will focus on the next phase of development. That includes completing final engineering work, optimising wind turbine selection and layout, and assessing commercial options such as construction financing, strategic partnerships and potential monetisation opportunities.

The company expects the project to reach Ready-to-Build status by late 2026, with commercial operations targeted for 2028.

As EL24 advances, Revolve said it will continue updating shareholders on upcoming milestones. The project adds to the broader momentum behind wind energy, grid integration and investment in renewables in Mexico, particularly in high-resource regions such as Tamaulipas.
