The countdown has begun for FES Iberia Renewables & Storage. On Thursday, 12 February, Madrid will host the first stop of the 2026 tour of Future Energy Summit (FES).

With energy storage positioned as a strategic pillar of the energy transition, the event will bring together top-level executives, public authorities and leading renewable energy companies at a decisive moment for the development of the Iberian energy market.

Just one week ahead of the event, more than 40 speakers have already been confirmed, including CEOs of key companies, public policy leaders and representatives from Spain’s Autonomous Communities. This combination creates a high-level platform for analysis, knowledge exchange and business-oriented networking.

Among the senior executives leading the panels are Julio Castro, CEO of Iberdrola Renovables; Álvaro Pérez de Lema, CEO of Saeta Yield; Rafael Esteban, Global Chief Business Development Officer at Acciona Energía; Miguel Giné, CEO of Soletrax; Miguel Sánchez Praena, CEO of Altano Energy; and Pablo Landa Labiano, CEO of Factiun.

From the public sector, notable participants include Carmen López Ocón, Director of Renewable Energies and Electricity Markets at IDAE, and Fátima García Señán, Deputy Director-General for Storage and Flexibility at MITECO.

The timing of FES Iberia is particularly significant. According to a recent report by Energía Estratégica, 50 new projects have entered the environmental permitting process in Spain, representing 2,155.8 MW of new renewable energy capacity and 485.9 MW of battery energy storage systems (BESS). The report, available free of charge, provides detailed data on projects and emerging business opportunities in the country.

In parallel, MITECO has recently launched a public consultation for Spain’s first offshore wind power auction, formally opening the path towards the competitive deployment of a technology with more than 20 GW currently awaiting development.

This edition of Future Energy Summit will also feature active participation from regional governments, including authorities from the Junta de Andalucía, Xunta de Galicia, Castilla y León and the Government of the Canary Islands. Their involvement will provide a territorial perspective on renewable energy deployment during a period of profound sectoral transformation.

The corporate agenda will be further strengthened by the participation of companies such as EDP, Galp, GameChange, Chemik Group, SMA Ibérica, Ignis Energía, Yingli Solar, Huawei, Schletter, Sonnedix, Greenyellow, Grupo Elecnor, Tera Batteries, Capture Energy, Zelestra, Verbund Green Power Iberia, Enagás, Templus and Lightsource bp, among others.

These dynamics position FES Iberia as a strategic forum to anticipate market trends, analyse emerging regulatory frameworks and explore commercial partnerships. The programme will include thematic sessions addressing executive perspectives from major utilities, the evolution of the industrial value chain, the future of storage integrated with solar PV, and the role of regional governments in the territorial rollout of sustainable energy solutions.

Beyond technical discussions, FES Iberia stands out for its dedicated networking spaces, where hundreds of company representatives will meet to promote power purchase agreements (PPAs), knowledge exchange and business deals that support Spain’s energy transition and the wider Southern European renewable energy market.
