Ventus has been awarded the operation and maintenance (O&M) contract for the Puerta de Oro Solar Park, a 375 MWp utility-scale project located in the municipalities of Guaduas and Chaguaní, in the department of Cundinamarca, Colombia. The asset is owned by Patria Investments, a leading global alternative investment firm with a strong presence in Latin American infrastructure and energy.
Under the agreement, Ventus will provide full-scope O&M services, including solar panel cleaning, electrical testing, supervision and operation of generation systems, as well as the management and operation of high-voltage grid connection assets. With this new contract, Ventus now exceeds 1,000 MW of renewable assets under management across Latin America, consolidating its position as a regional benchmark in renewable energy operations and maintenance.
The Puerta de Oro Solar Park comprises 511,380 photovoltaic modules and 300 central inverters spread over an area of 540 hectares—equivalent to more than 750 professional football pitches. The project also includes a 22-kilometre, 230 kV high-voltage transmission line and a 34.5/230 kV evacuation substation equipped with two 190 MVA power transformers, enabling efficient grid integration of the generated solar power.
“Operation and maintenance are a fundamental part of the renewable project lifecycle. It is not just about keeping equipment running, but about optimising performance, extending asset lifespan and ensuring that every megawatt generated delivers long-term sustainable value,” said Federico Lombardo, Operation and Maintenance Manager at Ventus.
“We are very proud of the trust placed in us by Patria Investments and of being able to support the growth of Colombia’s solar sector with the same technical excellence that defines Ventus,” Lombardo added.
Puerta de Oro represents a milestone for Colombia’s energy transition. Recognised as one of the country’s largest solar PV plants, its entry into commercial operation in 2026 reflects not only its scale, but also the responsibility of ensuring efficient and sustainable performance over the long term.
“For us, operation is not a phase that comes after development—it is the core that ensures the project delivers real value to the national power system. Ventus’ presence at Puerta de Oro strengthens our long-term vision: a plant that operates with technical excellence, optimises performance and contributes consistently to Colombia’s energy security,” said Luis Alberto Páez, CEO of Patria’s Energy Platform and CEO of Puerta de Oro.
With this award, Ventus reinforces its leadership across the renewable energy value chain—from engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) to asset management and O&M—while deepening its commitment to sustainable energy development in Colombia and across Latin America.
