Huawei Digital Power held the Latin America C&I Greenovation Summit 2025 on November 28, consolidating the event as an influential platform shaping the future of smart technology and sustainable energy in Latin America and the Caribbean. The Summit brought together leaders from industry, government, and academia to discuss the challenges and opportunities of the energy transition in the commercial and industrial (C&I) segment.

The event opened with keynote speeches underscoring the urgency of decarbonization and collaboration.

  • Daniel Zhou, President of Huawei for Latin America, and Manuel Ahumada, CEO of Enlight, emphasised the critical role of the private sector in accelerating the adoption of C&I renewable energy solutions across the region.
  • Government representatives reinforced legislative and scientific commitment to sustainable growth and energy modernisation. Among them were Cristopher Malpica Morales from the Council of Humanities, Sciences and Technologies of Quintana Roo, and Senator Jorge Carlos Ramírez Marín, Vice President of the Mexican Senate.

The Summit focused on trends and real-world applications, highlighting the need for scalable energy storage and the transformation of industrial parks.

  • Regional Analysis: Dr Miguel Robles Pérez (IER-UNAM) provided a data-driven perspective on Mexico’s renewable energy trajectory, while Diana Vázquez Castañeda from AMPIP detailed the role of industrial parks as energy transformation hubs, driven by nearshoring dynamics and sustainability strategies.
  • Smart Energy, Smart Savings: Multiple high-impact case studies were presented, demonstrating the technical and economic viability of smart energy technologies:
    • Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) were deployed in a hotel and a retail store.

    • The L4 critical energy project for the Guadalajara light rail system.

    • Electrification of heavy-duty vehicles.

The Summit also served as a platform for showcasing cutting-edge solutions.

  • José Antonio Perea Saavedra from Huawei Digital Power Mexico presented a C&I-focused energy solution integrating intelligent solar PV systems and electric vehicle superchargers, aimed at optimising energy efficiency and flexibility for industrial and commercial users.
  • Experts from TÜV Rheinland highlighted the critical importance of third-party validation to ensure the highest safety and quality standards in modern smart energy infrastructure.

By bringing together government leaders, academia (UNAM and scientific councils), and global technology companies, the Summit not only provided insight into the state of the art but also acted as a decisive forum for Mexico’s energy transition. The discussions helped solidify a roadmap centred on innovation in the C&I sector, the deployment of robust infrastructure such as energy storage, and the expansion of electromobility.

The final message was clear: collaboration is the essential catalyst for a cleaner, more resilient, and cost-efficient industrial future in Latin America, positioning the Summit as a key pillar for a more competitive, resilient, and fundamentally cleaner Mexican energy ecosystem.
