On-site power generation is increasingly establishing itself as a strategic alternative for industries seeking to reduce costs, improve efficiency, and ensure the continuity of their operations. By using renewable energy sources or natural gas, SECCO provides its clients with tailor-made solutions that reduce the cost per kilowatt-hour (kWh), prevent interruptions in production processes, and support a more sustainable energy management approach.
With more than nine decades of experience in the market, SECCO is a benchmark company in power supply and generation solutions. From its 45,000-square-meter industrial facility in Rosario, dedicated to manufacturing operations, the company designs and produces medium- and high-power units for both public and private sector clients. SECCO has installed more than 1,500 MW across over 160 power generation plants, operating either in isolated systems or connected to Argentina’s national interconnected grid (Sistema Argentino de Interconexión – SADI).
Its expertise spans multiple technologies and fuels, including renewable energy (solar PV and hybrid systems), developments aimed at optimising the use of natural resources, natural gas, and hydrocarbons.
On-site power generation: customised projects
On-site power generation refers to the production of electricity by an end user for its own consumption, using equipment installed at the same location where the energy is used. This practice reduces dependence on the public power grid, lowers energy costs, and increases supply efficiency, making it especially attractive for industrial and commercial sectors.
SECCO’s on-site power generation proposal is based on modular generation units fueled by natural gas or non-conventional gases, offering high efficiency and reliability. Each project is designed according to the specific needs of the client and includes equipment supply, assembly, installation, operational maintenance, and the option for direct operation by SECCO or training of the client’s internal staff.
Four key benefits of on-site power generation:
Lower electricity bills: A significant reduction in the cost per kWh compared to grid tariffs, with a direct impact on profitability. This optimisation of energy spending has a positive effect on overall operating costs.
Operational reliability: On-site generation systems provide stability and security to production processes by avoiding the risks associated with outages or voltage fluctuations in the public grid. This ensures continuity of critical operations and minimises losses caused by unplanned shutdowns.
Flexibility and scalability: Projects are sized according to each client’s demand, with the possibility of modular expansion. This feature allows companies to support industrial growth without the need to redesign their entire energy infrastructure from scratch.
Energy independence: Reduced reliance on the conventional power grid improves operational resilience and provides greater control over energy management. This is particularly relevant in areas with supply constraints or limitations on contracted capacity.
All power plants are monitored 24/7 via satellite from SECCO’s Generation Operations Center (COG). Clients have real-time access to telemetry data and receive email alerts in the event of any incident. In addition, the company maintains its own inventory of spare parts and original components to ensure immediate response.
In recent years, SECCO has implemented this system across the country for a wide range of sectors, including agriculture, agribusiness, food processing, industrial manufacturing, and services, among others.
For each client, a tailor-made solution has been developed: options range from grid-parallel power plants of up to 10 MW operating on natural gas—using generation units provided by SECCO—to fully islanded systems operating independently from the national power grid. Solutions for biogas power plants operating in parallel with the grid have also been designed.
Energy for a more sustainable future
With innovative solutions, proven experience, and projects operating nationwide, SECCO reaffirms its commitment to on-site power generation as a model that enhances competitiveness, profitability, and sustainability for its clients.
