The renowned solar tracking company Nextracker has recently rebranded as NextPower, marking a strategic shift toward a comprehensive portfolio of solar PV, grid-integration and energy storage solutions. The announcement was made by Gonzalo Gallardo, Sales Manager for Latin America, during the Future Energy Summit Southern Cone 2025 held in Santiago, Chile.
Gallardo explained that the new brand responds to market demands: “We are moving to a more complete platform that not only provides solar trackers but also electrical balance-of-system components, foundations, robotics, and other integrated solutions.” He noted that the objective is to position NextPower as a full-scope technology provider for the region’s fast-growing renewable energy sector.
One of the company’s priorities is addressing key barriers to Chile’s and the Southern Cone’s energy transition, particularly transmission grid congestion. “Permitting is complex and new transmission lines take a long time to build. In the short and medium term, storage is the obvious solution,” Gallardo said.
According to the executive, northern Chile is experiencing a rapid increase in hybrid solar-plus-storage projects, driven by the need to mitigate bottlenecks in the grid. NextPower aims to support this growth by leveraging its manufacturing capacity and a pricing strategy designed to make such projects technically and financially viable.
The company is also tailoring its technology to Latin America’s diverse environmental and geographic conditions. In southern Chile, where vegetation, uneven terrain and soil movement complicate construction, NextPower deploys its XTR Tracker, a flexible structure that minimizes or eliminates the need for earthworks. In the north, where corrosive and rocky soils are common, the firm offers specialized designs and engineering solutions to ensure technical feasibility and competitive LCOE.
Gallardo emphasized that NextPower has built strong ties with developers across the region: “Nearly 80% of our revenue comes from repeat customers,” he said. Product reliability is a key factor in this loyalty. “Our structure is 100% riveted, with almost no maintenance required.”
The company also incorporates advanced software and design enhancements such as TrueCapture, a performance optimization system that increases annual energy yield through real-time tuning, and Microtilt, a modification that slightly orients modules to the north to boost performance at mid-latitude sites.
NextPower has delivered over 24 GW of solar technology in Latin America, including 3.5 GW in Chile, where it is the leading supplier by volume. Chile also holds historical significance for the company: its first international project outside the United States was developed in the country, establishing a long-standing presence and deep knowledge of the local regulatory environment.
Gallardo concluded with a long-term perspective on sustainability: “We believe there is value in certifying emissions reductions—not only during operation, but also in the manufacturing and construction of equipment.” This approach reflects NextPower’s commitment to enabling a more sustainable and technically robust energy transition across the Southern Cone.
