Huawei strengthens its leadership in Latin America with high-efficiency storage and smart diagnostics

Huawei chose the PVBook 2025 is the strategic stage for presenting two storage solutions that aim to set a new standard in the region: the LUNA2000-4.5MWh-2H1, aimed at utility-scale projects, and the LUNA2000-215-2S10, designed for the commercial and industrial (C&I) segment.

Both respond to the challenges that Latin America faces in the integration of renewable energies into the electrical grid, providing efficiency, flexibility and security at different project scales, and their information is now available in the free strategic international catalogue , developed by Energía Estragica.

LUNA2000-4.5MWh-2H1 system delivers 4.5 MWh of usable capacity in a compact 20-foot HQ container, with a nominal power of 2,236 kW and a charge/discharge rate of 0.5 C. With an RTE efficiency of 90.3%, it maximizes the return on investment for developers and operators.

It also integrates a liquid cooling system that optimizes temperature and has IP55 and UL9540A electrical and thermal protection certifications. It also features intelligent diagnostics that allow operation and maintenance to be performed in seconds, reducing costs and management time.

For its part, the LUNA2000-215-2S10 is presented as an ideal solution for companies and industries seeking reliable energy autonomy. With 215 kWh of usable capacity, 100% depth of discharge, and a cycle efficiency of 91.3% at 0.5 C, this system stands out for its plug-and-play design and remote monitoring capabilities, which simplify operation and maintenance.

Its resistance to demanding environments—operating between –30°C and 55°C and at altitudes of up to 4,000 meters above sea level—makes it a tool adapted to the challenges of the region.

These innovations come at a time when the Latin American energy sector is experiencing sustained growth in renewable energy and increasingly demanding reliable and efficient storage solutions.

In this way, Huawei has been able to anticipate these local needs with technologies that integrate not only technical efficiency but also advanced digital capabilities such as intelligent monitoring, compatibility with hybrid systems, and network management. This flexibility has been crucial to its consolidation in a highly competitive and technologically demanding environment.

The backing of its track record in the region lends credibility to these new proposals. According to data from Wood Mackenzie , in 2024 Huawei has emerged as the clear market leader in photovoltaic inverters in Latin America and the Caribbean , with a 39% regional share.

In absolute numbers, this represented approximately 11,160 MWac of the more than 28,600 MWac shipped in the region during the year, a striking demonstration of its deployment capacity and volume.

The firm’s momentum has been driven by its strategy of expanding into utility-scale projects and smart products tailored to the specific conditions of Latin American markets, consolidating its position as an undisputed benchmark in inverter technology.

In addition to its commitment to utility-scale solutions, Huawei has strengthened its presence in the C&I segment with storage solutions and new inverters optimized for large-scale installations. It has also expanded its distribution network in emerging markets such as Bolivia, promoted Grid Forming technologies to reinforce grid stability, and collaborated with CENACE in Mexico on the digitalization of electrical operations. These strategic moves earned it recognition for the fourth consecutive year as a “Customers’ Choice” in the Gartner Peer Insights 2025 report for storage platforms, confirming the reliability and international recognition of its solutions.

Huawei’s participation in the PVBook 2025 , the international catalog developed by Energía Estragica and available free of charge, constitutes a significant contribution to the renewable energy ecosystem, as it provides validated technical information to developers, EPCs, and investors planning projects in Latin America and Europe. With the LUNA2000-4.5MWh-2H1 and LUNA2000-215-2S10, the company not only strengthens its leadership in energy storage but also reaffirms its commitment to a cleaner, more reliable, and more resilient energy transition in the region.
