Danish multinational Vestas has announced a new order in Romania for the Ansthall project, developed by OX2 Construcción AB, which will add 96 MW of installed capacity to the country’s electricity system.
The contract covers the supply and installation of 15 V162-6.4 MW turbines from the EnVentus platform, renowned for its high efficiency and adaptability to varying wind conditions. It also includes a long-term AOM 5000 service agreement, ensuring maintenance and performance optimisation throughout the turbines’ operational life.
According to the schedule, equipment delivery is planned for the second quarter of 2026, with commissioning expected in the first quarter of 2027.
This order forms part of Vestas’ strategy to strengthen its presence in Eastern Europe, supported by the creation of the new MED East regional unit, headquartered in Bucharest and led by Srdan Cenic. This division covers Bulgaria, the Balkans, Romania and Central Asia, aiming to improve efficiency, market focus and local execution capabilities.
Bucharest remains a strategic hub for Vestas, with over 1.2 GW of installed capacity since 2008 and a specialised local team managing complex projects. The company also recently signed a 269 MW order to complete the second phase of the Vifor wind farm, which will reach a total of 461 MW, making it the largest onshore wind farm in Romania.
