Toledo acogerá en septiembre la II Cumbre de Comunidades Energéticas

The Spanish Photovoltaic Union (UNEF) , in collaboration with the Regional Government of Castilla-La Mancha, is organizing the 2nd Energy Communities Summit. This event, which will take place on Wednesday, September 24, at the Toledo “El Greco” Conference Center , seeks to establish itself as the main meeting place for the sector.

This will be a meeting space for relevant roundtable discussions that will address everything from the role of Energy Communities in the energy transition, to the policy perspective on these disruptive entities, to the different models of Communities that can be deployed in our country and that can provide not only technical but also social value.

The second edition builds on the success of the First Summit, which gave rise to the Manifesto for Energy Communities and Energy Self-Sufficiency . This manifesto was born with the aim of forging collaboration among all energy communities, working in a coordinated manner to defend their interests and foster their integration.

Energy Communities are made up of partners or members who join together to harness renewable resources or carry out energy-related activities. The resulting environmental and socioeconomic benefits are reinvested in the community or local area where they are located.

According to data from ECODES, there are already 679 Energy Communities in Spain. Toledo also has one of the best examples: the first energy community in a historic center , in which individuals, businesses, convents, and the Toledo City Council participate. This community offers environmental, economic, and social benefits to its members through the clean energy it produces using photovoltaic technology and the reinvestment of profits in the community itself.

This and other examples will be addressed at the Second Toledo Energy Communities Summit , as well as other topics of special interest to those interested in their development, such as regulation , governance , and procedures .
