Vestas has received a 46 MW order for the Somozas wind project in Galicia, Spain. The project is part of a repowering initiative.

The order, placed by Naturgy, includes the supply and installation of seven V150-6.0 MW wind turbines and two V110-2.2 MW turbines. It also includes a 10-year Active Output Management 4000 (AOM 4000) service contract, designed to ensure the project’s optimal performance.

Located in Galicia, the Somozas project highlights the strategic role this region plays in Spain’s renewable energy landscape. It also reinforces the ongoing collaboration between Vestas and Naturgy, and underlines the growing importance of repowering in accelerating Spain’s energy transition.

“We are proud to continue our collaboration with Naturgy, one of Spain’s leading energy groups, and to support the repowering of the Somozas wind farm in Galicia. This project reflects the great potential for upgrading existing sites with advanced technologies to significantly increase energy output and improve the overall efficiency of mature wind farms. Galicia is a key region for wind development, and we are committed to delivering advanced wind solutions that help unlock its full renewable energy potential,” said José Luis del Cerro, General Manager of Vestas Iberia.

Turbine delivery is expected to take place in the last quarter of 2025, with commissioning scheduled for the second quarter of 2026.

With nearly 6 GW of installed wind capacity in Spain, Vestas continues to play a key role in driving the country towards a more sustainable energy mix.
