Red Eléctrica, the Redeia subsidiary responsible for transmission and operation of the electricity system in Spain, has completed construction on the final section of the 220 kV line between the Mas Figueres and Palau substations, in the municipality of Palau-Solitá i Plegamans in the Vallès region (Barcelona). The connection between the two substations will improve the electricity supply throughout the region and boost industrial development, promoting economic growth and job creation.
The final section of this line, which was pending construction for the urban development of an industrial estate in the municipality of Palau-solità i Plegamans, is one kilometer long and has been buried underground. The works involved an investment by Red Eléctrica of €7.15 million. Part of this budget has been allocated to Red Eléctrica’s ambitious environmental restoration plan, aimed at doubling the area’s forest cover.
This is an essential project for the region and for strengthening its industry and economy. The commissioning of this new infrastructure will significantly strengthen the quality and security of electricity supply to the municipalities of Riera de Caldes, an area with a strong presence of industrial activity and a high demand for electricity.
This investment boost from Red Eléctrica will be crucial in attracting new economic and industrial activity, boosting economic and social development in the area. It also advances the ecological transition objectives, contributing to the decarbonization of industrial processes, services, and transportation in the area through the electrification of energy uses, currently thermal and fueled by fossil fuels.
