The regional delegate of the Government of Castilla-La Mancha in Ciudad Real, Blanca Fernández, had the opportunity to gain detailed insight into the ErasmoPower2X project, which includes the development of an integrated solar and green hydrogen plant in Saceruela.
This information was shared during an institutional meeting today, attended by the delegate on behalf of the regional government, the CEO of ErasmoPower2X, Bas Dekker, Project Manager Violeta Alonso, and the Mayor of Saceruela, José Fernández Teno.
Blanca Fernández highlighted the significant potential of this cutting-edge renewable energy project. ErasmoPower2X plans to construct and launch an energy hub featuring a 1,200 MW photovoltaic park, 70 MW of battery storage, and a 650 MW hydrogen plant capable of producing 85 kilotons of green hydrogen annually.
In this regard, the delegate expressed the regional government’s support for a project deemed vital to industrial decarbonization and strategic for progressing toward energy self-sufficiency, linking to both Spain’s and Europe’s hydrogen infrastructure networks and the Puertollano Hydrogen Valley.
Notably, the ErasmoPower2X project also includes the production of green derivatives for use in fuels, plastics, and the biochemical industry in Puertollano—thus closing the loop on sustainability.
Blanca Fernández also emphasized the economic, educational, and employment benefits the project represents for both the province of Ciudad Real and the town of Saceruela. The project will prioritize local hiring, especially of young people, promote access to quality employment, and support training and professional qualification in the energy sector.
