Red Eléctrica and the companies in the sector are working in a coordinated manner to restore the electricity supply throughout the country as soon as possible. The peninsular electricity system suffered a power outage this morning in mainland Spain and Portugal.
How are we working to restore the supply after the power outage?
“We are coordinating with the competent authorities and agencies, and companies in the sector. We have activated the procedures planned for restoring supply; in this phase of the work, the objective is to provide voltage to the generation units so they can start up and propagate voltage to the grid and other units”, said Red Elétrica Spain.
Update on the restoration process at 00:00 (peninsular time):
61.35% of peninsular demand (14,074 MW) has now been restored.
78% of the transmission grid’s substations are now energized.
“We continue working to restore normalcy to the peninsular electricity system”, they add.
Update at 2:00 a.m. (peninsular time): 77.7% of peninsular demand (16,118 MW) has now been restored. 96% of the transmission grid’s substations are now energized.
Update 2:50 a.m. (peninsular time): 82.4% of peninsular demand has been recovered (16,552 MW). Virtually all of the transmission grid’s substations are now energized (99.11%).
